On 03/08/2013 Potter’s House held their annual Fun Day. Boasting a number of energy-depleting, muscle-building, and team-building activities, the event was aimed at building a stronger relationship with the Wandsworth community (Winstanley Estate) as well as spreading the Good News of our Lord and Saviour; Jesus Christ.

The day began with a number of age-friendly activities such as; face-painting, a bouncing castle assault course, a chance to play on various games consoles, pancake decorating, a physical fitness “zone”, and many many other less physically demanding activities. There was a great turnout in children as the bouncing castles attracted a large number of families looking for an opportunity to bond with their community as well as to have an opportunity to show their skills on the user friendly assault course.

The main event of the day, of course, came in the form of the Potter’s House Sports Day events which tested a number of the participants’ mental and physical strength in order to crown a Home Group as the most athletic within Wandsworth. Ranging from an egg-and-spoon race to a 20m beep test, this made for a formidable show of athleticism among both the members of the public and of the church. Topping the line-up of sporting events was the men’s 100m which saw a race in desperate need for better technological equipments as it went down to a draw. Along with the adult events, the children faced off to decide who in Wandsworth was worthy of the title “Potter’s House Wandsworth Home Group of the year” through their 100m races as well as sack and relay races.

After the physically draining athletics came the much anticipated WOW Showcase which saw a number of church members performing for a packed audience. To name a few performances on the night these included; a contemporary dancer, rappers, singers, the under-20’s drama, and the Potter’s House Wandsworth Choir: which performed for the first time since its formation. Keeping with the energy from the Sports Day, the various performances had the audience participating by dancing and singing along. Also the drama was very successful in its engaging of the audience.

The day as a whole was a major success seeing, above all else, the name of Jesus Christ being lifted up through a number of community bonding activities. Throughout the day a number of visitors expressed their appreciation for the event and we saw a number of people dedicate their lives to Christ after the Showcase.

One thing’s for sure, the next Fun Day will definitely be something to keep your eyes peeled for with the assurance of it being much bigger, better, and more competitive than the last. Keep up to date with all the upcoming events through our website.

To God be ALL the glory!
